Let’s be honest
We’ve all been there. We’re tired, frustrated, and looking for quick solutions. So we jump into online groups, scroll through endless posts, and hope someone has the magic fix. At first, it feels supportive. We see others struggling with similar challenges, and it reassures us that we’re not alone. But soon we realise the advice is conflicting, generic, and often doesn’t fit our salon or spa. Instead of clarity, we end up with more confusion.
This is what we call the “Wrong Place Trap.”
We join five, ten, sometimes more groups, hoping someone will have the answer. But the reality is, most of the people giving advice are stuck in the same problems we’re facing. They’re not ahead of us, they’re right beside us, still trying to figure it out. And when we rely on that kind of advice, growth stalls.
Here’s the truth, we already have passion and skill. We know how to deliver amazing hair, skin, and spa services. But most of us have never had formal training in running a business. Pricing, marketing, systems, and growth, these aren’t things we just “figure out” by scrolling through comments.
And that’s why so many of us end up working harder, burning out, and still not seeing the results we deserve.
Take Elle, a young salon owner three years into her business. She was ambitious, motivated, and full of passion, but she didn’t know where to start when it came to growing her salon. Like many of us, she was stuck in survival mode, working in her business every day but not on her business.
With the right guidance, Elle’s journey shifted. She began by looking at her numbers, spotting where money was leaking and where sales could grow without chasing more clients. She tackled her limiting beliefs, switched her mindset from “just a boss” to “a Leader,” and learned how to inspire her team with clear communication. She put in simple systems, built a supportive team culture, and mapped out real business goals with a clear WHY, HOW, and WHEN.
The results were incredible. Elle’s salon grew from a solid six‑figure business into a seven‑figure success, passing $2 million in revenue. Her leadership and growth earned her nominations for WA State Salon Business of the Year and Australian Business Director/Owner of the Year. Elle didn’t get there by chasing random advice online, she got there by following proven strategies and committing to personal and professional growth.
That’s the difference. Forums can feel supportive, but they won’t build our business. Growth happens when we invest in learning from people who’ve already solved the problems we’re facing, not those still stuck in them.
For salon, spa, and skin clinic owners, this means stepping out of the noise and into clarity. We need to stop chasing quick fixes and start building systems that protect our energy, attract the right clients, and make our businesses profitable. That might look like setting up consistent consultation processes, creating rebooking systems, or finally putting boundaries around discounts. These aren’t glamorous changes, but they’re the ones that build stability and confidence.
When we stop relying on generic advice and start following proven strategies, we shift from survival to growth. We stop wasting energy on the wrong clients and start building loyalty with the right ones. And that’s when the business feels lighter, more balanced, and more sustainable.
If we want true success and profitability, we need to stop chasing advice in the wrong places. Let’s seek out professional strategies, proven systems, and guidance that fits our business.
We don’t just need answers, we need direction. That’s how we move from struggling to thriving.
